Poster Rules
Theme: “Springs Forever”
RULES
- Open to ANY Marion County student in grades K- 12th and must be the original work of the individual student.
- Poster size must be 14” by 22”.
- Any media may be used to create a FLAT or two-dimensional effect (i.e. crayons, paints, colored pencils, pens, charcoal, paper or other materials).
- The Horse Farms Forever, Inc. Conservation Summit theme: “Springs Forever” MUST BE WRITTEN ON YOUR POSTER.
- Official entry forms must be completed in full and taped to the back of the poster.
- Posters must be submitted by the official deadline. Organizers NOT responsible for lost entries.
- Failure to comply with the contest rules results in disqualification. All entries are judged, but no award(s) given for disqualified submissions.
DEADLINE
Deliver posters to Marion Soil and Water Conservation District; 2710 East Silver Sprigs Blvd; Ocala, FL 34470 by Friday, November 1, 2024, 4 PM. Please call the District before delivery.
DIVISIONS
- Kindergarten (K) – First (1st) Grade
- Second (2nd) Grade – Third (3rd) Grade
- Fourth (4th) Grade – Sixth (6th) Grade
- Seventh (7th) Grade – Ninth (9th) Grade
- Tenth (10th) Grade – Twelfth (12th) Grade
JUDGING CRITERIA
Three competent and impartial judges will be selected. The judges’ decisions will be final. A standard score sheet, totaling 100 points, will be used based on the following criteria:
- Conservation Message - 50 points
- Visual Effectiveness - 30 points
- Originality - 10 points
- Universal Appeal - 10 points
AWARDS
All contestants receive complimentary tickets to the Springs Forever Conservation Summit, held on November 14, 2024 from 5 – 7 p.m., hosted/sponsored by Horse Farms Forever, Inc. Top three winners chosen from each of the five divisions:
- 1st Place – $100 & Ribbon
- 2nd Place – $75 & Ribbon
- 3rd Place – $50 & Ribbon
PARTICIPATION
Contest organizers reserve the right to display poster entries, participant’s names, schools, etc. throughout the 2024-2025 year. Contest organizers are not responsible for returning poster entries to the participants; they must arrange to pick their entries up from the Marion SWCD office and/or directly proceeding the Horse Farms Forever, Inc. Conservation Summit event.
